Nursery School Olympics
Sponsored by Westland Parks and Recreation, Westland Civitan Club, Westland Junior Civitan Club, Dads' Athletic Club of Westland and Jaycees
Bring your youngster(s) and have a great time cheering them on to victory as they "compete" in games especially designed for them. Some of the activities include the Big Wheel Grande Prix, the Marshmallow Shot Put, and the I-Did-A-Rod Hurdles. Every child will receive a certificate of participation.
Ages: 18 months - 5 years of age Date: Saturday, March 6, 2010: Pre-registration encouraged but not required. Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon. The course takes about 30-45 minutes, so your child can register and join in the fun right up to 11:30 a.m. Cost: $4.00 per child/athlete; parents/spectators are free

Westland Civitan Bunny Brunch
Sponsored by the Westland Civitan Club and Westland Parks and Recreation
All you can eat! Delicious, homemade, hot off the griddle pancakes with butter, syrup, breakfast sausage, juice, coffee, tea and milk. Besides the wonderful brunch, there will be a special visit by the Easter Bunny. Children are encouraged to make and wear an Easter bonnet or hat for their picture with the Easter Bunny. Easter Delight Night
Kids, come to the Bailey Recreation Center and make Easter eggs and your very own Easter basket. You will decorate your basket and then make different types of Easter eggs. All supplies included. The Westland Civitan Club has arranged for the Easter Bunny to visit briefly on his way to decorate his own eggs! Parents, please bring a camera if you would like pictures with the Easter Bunny.
Ages: 3-12 years of age; children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.

Time: 4:30-6:00 p.m. Price: $5.00 per child payable to the City of Westland. $2.00 supply fee paid to the teacher at class.

16th Annual National
Turn Off the Violence Night
Thursday, October 14, 2010 ~ 6:30-9:00 p.m.
Make Thursday, October 8th your family night out! We'll have something for everyone - whether you're an animal lover visiting the exotic animals or exploring your adventurous side on the many inflatable bouncers. You can bring your skateboard or skates and take a spin around the Concrete Jungle Skate Park. Join the Fire Department and be a firefighter for a night or just sit back, relax and enjoy one of the live performances. Pledge to Turn Off the Violence with the Westland DARE Police Officer and get a prize! Information will be available about personal, home and driving safety as well as ID information.
The Wild About Youth Force and the Westland Rotary Club invite you to bring your family to the Bailey Recreation Center where they'll become your best friends while creating memories. You'll have a blast! Events are free, food is available at a nominal cost.
Annual Tree Decorating Event
Wednesday, December 1, 2010 ~ 4:30 p.m.
Bring in the holidays with Mayor Wild and his special guest, Santa Claus! You can welcome in the holiday season with many schools and scout troops as they decorate the trees between City Hall and the Bailey Recreation Center. Each group will decorate a tree specially chosen for them and then present their trees to Mayor Wild and Santa Claus. The celebration and presentation will include greetings from the Mayor and Santa, a Christmas carol sing along and refreshments. Everyone is invited to join in the fun.
